Business Development in a post-GDPR World - £595pp

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect on 25 May 2018, it’s an evolving beast and an on-going challenge. It has overhauled the way businesses collect, use and store personal data, the consequences of which have altered the approach to business development opportunities.

Implied consent, such as pre-checked boxes or ‘to continue to use our site, accept our Ts&Cs’ are no longer valid. Businesses are now obligated to prove actual consent that must be freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous.

Whilst the GDPR regulatory framework may initially seem rather limiting, this workshop will explore the opportunities for savvy, forward-thinking, digital businesses to advise clients, address their needs and expand upon existing business.

We shall review recent case studies and explore best practices implemented by businesses that are leading the charge.

Topics covered will include:

  • An overview of the regulatory framework and privacy laws within the UK, EU, alongside a global perspective.

  • How to ensure your data sources are compliant from a data capture and data purchase perspective, better data equals better customer engagement

  • Consent practices and preference management, including cookie compliance, online tracking and the opt-in, opt-out process

  • The interpretation of legitimate interest and impact upon direct marketing

  • The rise of contextual advertising at the expense of personalised advertising

  • How to earn the trust of your customers and demonstrate privacy protection

  • Benchmarking your privacy programme, and why this is so important

  • How to demonstrate compliance and satisfy GDPR regulators

  • The likely effect of Brexit on data protection and privacy
